This is a new adventure for me. My first blog. So, please bear with me as I figure this blogging thing out! All this “social media” stuff…Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, blogging, etc…its mostly known for what “kids” do with / in it. And not all of that has been so good. Or has it? I think we can learn from and appreciate what our “kids” have done for “the rest of us” here. What doors have been opened…what walls have been knocked down. It’s a whole new world of connections. Social, yes. But, I tend to see it more as “community.” Community Media. We all have “communities” we associate in and with. On a personal side its family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. We also associate in and with businesses…and vice-versa. Businesses have communities as well. Suppliers, vendors, trade alliances, advertisers, employees…and most importantly, customers and clients. Turns out, we can all connect and interact using these same “social media” tools. Community Media. Done right, it seems to have some positive potential. In fact, the potential seems almost limitless…either that or so unknown its a space odyssey. An Outdoor Living Space odyssey. I’ll try to do it right.
As an introduction, I realize that gave you no insight as to what this blog is about. For that, please click to the “About” page. And then really, not much more to say at this point. Other than, stay tuned and lets see how this blogging aspect of Archadeck of Central Iowa’s “community media” experiment turns out. I’d like to call it a “strategy” rather than an “experiment,” but it’s just not really that well-formed yet.
What is formed is the brand and mission of Archadeck. To learn more about Archadeck custom outdoor living spaces, click our web site link at the right. Archadeck is your source for custom designed and built outdoor living spaces in Des Moines and the Central Iowa area. Our decks, porches, sunrooms, pergolas, gazebos, patios and more have been incorporated into many of our outdoor living space projects throughout Central Iowa. And with the weather as nice as it is this weekend, I imagine there will be a few Iowa Hawkeye and Iowa State Cyclone football parties on some of those spaces! Imagine that – November 7th – and you could still be able to host a Hawkeye or Cyclone football deck party this weekend! Two key aspects of that: 1) nice weather (got it!) and 2) an outdoor living space worthy of a 10-0 Iowa Hawkeye team and/or a bowl-bound Iowa State Cyclone team.
Go Hawkeyes! Go Cyclones!
